NCAA Basketball: Saturday February 18, 2018 Slate
One of the final Saturday’s of the regular season in NCAA Basketball is coming up. We are getting down to the nitty gritty of the season, and teams that are on the bubble to head to the postseason really need wins. There are some fantastic games on the schedule. Let’s take a look at the best NCAA Basketball games for Saturday February 18, 2018:
Texas Longhorns at Oklahoma Sooners
The Basketball version of the Red River Rivalry. When these two teams met last month in Austin, the Longhorns took down the Sooners. Texas is coming off the crushing double overtime loss to the Baylor Bears. Now, they face a desperate Oklahoma team. If the Sooners did not have the most Top 10 wins in the nation, they would be a bubble team. A loss here – and they could be in trouble. The Sooners are 16-9 on the season. In the end on Saturday though – too much Trae Young and the Sooners beat the Longhorns.
Villanova Wildcats at Xavier Musketeers
Two of the best teams in College Basketball – but the Villanova Wildcats are coming off a loss. The 23-3 Wildcats and the 24-3 Musketeers. This game is also likely for the regular season title out of the Big East. Chris Mack and his team are perfect at home, and look for them to stay that way. The Musketeers could be the best team in all of College Basketball. Xavier takes down Villanova, and puts the Wildcats in jeopardy for one of the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament.
West Virginia Mountaineers at Kansas Jayhawks
What a game out of the Big 12. Two teams ranked in the Top 20. The Jayhawks went to Morgantown and beat the Mountaineers earlier in the season. Kansas has a massive stretch coming up with a home game against Oklahoma after this, and then a trip to Texas Tech. If the Jayhawks are going to win their 14th straight Big 12 title- they likely need to win them all. Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers have payback on their minds. Look for a great game at the Fieldhouse in Lawrence.
North Carolina Tar Heels at Louisville Cardinals
The Tar Heels are heating up, and moving into the Top 10 with a few more wins. The defending National Champions are seeking their 5th straight win. They will take on a Louisville team that has been a pleasant surprise. The Cardinals looked to be a team to count out after all the early season drama. But, they are looking for their third straight win, and 19th overall. The Cardinals are fighting with several teams for the second spot in the ACC. Look for a great game, with the Tar Heels using their talent to win on the road.
Oregon Ducks at UCLA Bruins
Two teams that are hard to figure out will get together in L.A. The Oregon Ducks are 17-8 and 4th in the Pac-12, while the UCLA Bruins are also 17-8 and 2nd in the conference. Both teams should have enough to reach the NCAA Tournament, but both Dana Altman and Steve Alford’s teams need more wins. The Ducks and Bruins played on January 20th with Oregon winning by 3. That game saw 185 points, how many will this one see on Saturday?
