Bulldogs vs. Rams Betting Overview
This game is as good as the story about how The Brady Bunch got together and met and fell in love. There is not room for two Cinderellas in this tournament and one of them must fall. Butler enters the Final Four having been there, done that kind of thing but this time without Gordon Hayward who left for the NBA. The VCU Rams got here by defeating the top dog left in the tourney in the Kansas Jayhawks. One interesting fact is that this Final Four game is the two highest seeds to ever play each other. The game will be played Saturday in Houston, Texas. Let’s preview each team and then give our free pick for your bet.
Butler Bulldogs News and Betting Tips for Saturday, April 02, 2011
The Butler Bulldogs currently had a 27-9 record entering the game and have won 13 straight games. The Bulldogs enter the Final Four for the second straight year which hasn’t ever been done by a team that was not seeded either #1 or #2. They have squeaked by four opponents in the tournament by less than 4 point average and have even resorted to a buzzer beater to get here.
Butler has certainly beaten good teams to advance to this game with wins over Pittsburgh on a questionable call, then defeating Wisconsin of the Big Ten and going to overtime to win over #2 seed Florida. The team is led by Shelvin Mack and Matt Howard who combined to average over 37 points per game and theyare coached by Brad Stevens.
VCU Rams News and Betting Tips for Saturday, April 02, 2011
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams are 28-11 for the season and the third team with an 11 seed to reach the Final Four. VCU was the finak at-large to to be selected to play in the NCAA tournament. They opened with a win over USC to advance from the field of 68 to the field of 64. The Rams have beaten many good teams to get to this game and the most impressive was the win over powerhouse Kansas Jayhawks. The Rams led from start to finish and handled them very well. The two leaders in the Kansas game were Jamie Skeen with 10 rebounds and 26 points and Branford Burgess. Burgess averages over 15 points per game for the season and Skeen also tosses in over 15 a game.
Our Rams vs. Bulldogs Pick and Predictions
The winner advances to the National Championship game and will face the winner of the Kentucky Wildcats and UConn Huskies game to be played later on the same evening. Look for both VCU and Butler to be a wee bit nervous at the onset of the game. Butler has the experience coming into this game. Shelvin Mack and Matt Howard will lead by example. The odds are VCU +2.5. Although we am not convinced they win the game it will be a close game. Bet VCU +2.5 with your bet.
Our Pick: VCU +2.5
UP NEXT: The winner will battle either Kentucky or Connecticut for the National Championship on Monday.
PREDICTION: Butler 64, VCU 62. Two of the youngest coaches in Division I will match each other possession for possession, but the Bulldogs will pull it out thanks to their experience both in the Final Four and in close games during the tournament.
