Boston has not won a Stanley Cup since 1972 but have had five other opportunities before this series. Goaltender Tim Thomas had a 110 minute and 42 seconds shutout streak snapped in Game 5 when Maxim Lapierre scored in the third period. Thomas had stopped 774 shots in the playoffs for second place in playoff history. The Bruins are 9-3 in the playoffs on home ice and one more win makes coach Claude Julien in first place in Boston hockey for the most playoff wins. Reigning Hart Trophy winner Henrik Sedin has yet to secure a point in the Stanley Cup Finals. By comparison, he collected 21 points (two goals, 19 assists) in the first three rounds. Boston went 0-for-4 for the second consecutive game to fall to 3-for-21 for the series and 6-for-78 in the playoffs.

Vancouver Canucks News and Betting Tips for Monday, June 13, 2011

Vancouver was struggling in Games 3 and 4 and were concerned with the work of goalie Roberto Luongo but saw him turn the tables for a 1-0 shutout and 31 shots stopped to notch a victory. Defenseman Chris Tanev played well in his Stanley Cup debut. Tanev set up Tanner Glass with what should have been the first goal of the game. With a gaping net, Glass couldn’t settle the puck and was unable to unleash a quality shot. Vancouver native Milan Lucic did not register a shot in Game 5 for the Bruins. He has one goal and one assist in the series. Vancouver continued to struggle with the man advantage in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Canucks are 1-for-25 on the power play.
