Minnesota Vikings News and Betting Tips for Sunday, September 18, 2011
The Minnesota Vikings are starting a new season without quarterback Brett Favre. Favre was the starting quarterback for Minnesota the past two seasons. Minnesota this season turned to veteran Donovan McNabb. McNabb’s opening game was not pleasant, as he finished with just 28 passing yards in the loss. McNabb threw just one interception, along with a touchdown pass to Michael Jenkins. Adrian Peterson, the Vikings top running back was able to carry the football 16 times for 98 yards, but the Chargers held him out of the end zone. Tampa Bay Buccaneers News and Betting Tips for Sunday, September 18, 2011
Tampa Bay will play their second straight team from the NFC North. Following this game, the Buccaneers have Atlanta at home, so a loss in Minneapolis and the Buccaneers could be looking at an 0-3 start. Tampa Bay’s defense was torched for 305 passing yards from Matthew Stafford in week one. The offensive side, the Buccaneers was unable to get anything going on the ground. Quarterback Josh Freeman led the team in rushing yards, but picked up just 26. LeGarrette Blount ran the ball just 5 times for 15 yards. Blount picked up over 1,000 rushing yards last season. Tampa Bay went 10-6 last season, but failed to make the postseason out of the NFC South.
Our Buccaneers vs. Vikings Pick and Predictions
This should be an interesting game between two teams that used to be divisional rivals. The Buccaneers and Vikings will both be hungry for a win. It’s typically tough to win in Minneapolis, but this year’s version is not as good as years past. Adrian Peterson will get the ball a ton in this game, and the Vikings hope that is enough to get past Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers snuck up on teams last season, don’t expect that to continue this season. Tampa Bay comes in as the underdog in this game. That is a bit surprising, because Minnesota does not look to be as talented as the Buccaneers. We are going to bet the underdog, Tampa Bay Buccaneers to beat the Minnesota Vikings and cover the +3 spread on Sunday.
