GTBets Sportsbook Review

GTBets sportsbook opened its doors in 2011, providing a sportsbook, racebook, and casino service to customers from all over the world. GTBets holds a gaming license issued by the Curacao Gaming Control Board.

This site is one of very few Web-based sportsbook/casino combination properties that still accept new memberships and cash wagers from customers in the United States. GTBets does business exclusively in the US dollar, and provides software and customer service in the English language only.

GTBets gets a lot of things right. The site is easy on the eyes, designed intuitively, and is stuffed with cool bonus offers for gamblers of all stripes. This review focuses on the site’s sportsbook options, but know that bonuses aimed at casino gamblers and race bettors are also available.

Below, you’ll find details on the site’s layout, bonus offers, cashier department, and customer service options.

GTBets Sportsbook Layout

If you’re used to greyscale sites with tiny text and clunky navigation, GTBets is going to be a nice experience for you. The site uses a blue and orange color scheme for backgrounds and other features that makes text easier to read and produces less eye strain. I also appreciate the main navigation bar at the top of every page of the site, which separates the site into two groups of pages. One group goes to betting options and the cashier page; the other group of links goes to important information on promotions, withdrawals and deposits, etc.

I think it’s also worth pointing out that GTBets is one of very few sportsbook sites I’ve reviewed that have attached a customer service widget to the top of every page. It’s not exactly a ground-breaking design choice, but it makes getting answers to questions really convenient.

The design philosophy appears to be: “make it functional, then make it beautiful.” It’s easy to navigate between the various sports betting markets available on the sportsbook page. I do find the bet slip to be a bit “busy” – the site lays out all available wagers when you click on a market, rather than separating them with tabs or text fields. This is one slightly-lazy design choice in a field of otherwise good ones.

Live Betting Options

Though the site has only been around since 2011, they have an impressive list of live betting options at GT Bets. No, the list of available live betting markets doesn’t rival the big UK books (yet), but it is at least as good as the best US-facing sportsbook sites.

On the day of this review, live bettors could pick from basketball, soccer, baseball, and tennis events in the site’s live betting schedule. That’s identical to the selection currently available at the two big US books, BetOnline and Bovada.

Just remember though – there’s a standard order for increased juice on live betting. You’re going to pay as much as -125 to make a live wager, and you’ll face betting limits of $500 on sides and $250 on totals. This isn’t out of the ordinary for online sportsbooks, though.

Odds & Markets

Though GTBets lacks a live poker room, it is considered a combination betting site. It’s clear to me that the site’s sports betting options are the main feature. I say that because the casino and racebook seem added on after-the-fact, with a ton of marketing attention being paid to sports bettors and the design features they appreciate.

In reading reviews of the site to prepare to write this one, I found lots of people complaining that GTBets focuses heavily on NFL football, perhaps at the cost of attention paid to other markets. I’m not sure that’s true today, though they are pushing the NFL really hard right, mostly because the season is about to start and speculation is at its annual fever-pitch.

Here’s everyday betting markets featured at GTBets:

  • American Football
  • Auto Racing
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Canadian League Football
  • College Football
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • MMA
  • Politics
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

If you’re used to betting at the major Euro-based books like William Hill, you’ll think this is a short list, and one that’s heavily focused on US sports. Remember, though, that GTBets is mainly interested in business from US and Canadian customers. Through that frame, the list above is pretty lengthy. It includes some futures wagering, and a couple of sports that can be considered niche in any market.

If I were to point out any one market that proves GTBets isn’t just an NFL betting site, it’d be international soccer. I was very impressed at the variety of leagues and playing styles available for bets at this site – all major leagues and markets are covered, as are some minor soccer areas, like Oceania.

As for the wager types currently available? Here’s a list:

  • 1st 5 innings
  • Futures
  • Half Times
  • If bets
  • Live action
  • Mobile bets
  • Moneylines
  • Over/Under
  • Parlays
  • Point buys/sells
  • Props
  • Quarters
  • Round robins
  • Straight wagers
  • Teasers

Final Verdict

I’m not going to lie – I’d like it if GTBets added a poker room or some other skill games to the mix. It’s odd to see a combo sportsbook with so few gaming options. That said, this relative newcomer has built a solid interface and set of promotional offers to rival anything available to North American customers at other sites.

If you live in the United States or Canada and you want to place bets on pro US sports and international soccer (or play a little blackjack on the side), you need to give GTBets a good long look. Their layout is attractive and intuitive, they have a decent selection of deposit and withdrawal options, and their bonus offers are quickly becoming the best in the US-facing marketplace.

Thanks again for making your ultimate sports betting picks destination!
