It’s BACK: Wednesday MLB Betting “3-Pack”

Wednesday presents a full slate of baseball games, and there are more afternoon games than normal. Six contests will start before the evening, so make sure you schedule your bets and picks accordingly. Here are our selections from the card for the time being that we feel are ideal bets.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Cincinnati Reds O/U Pick

The Diamondbacks take on the Reds in a Wednesday afternoon contest that should be low scoring. The Reds have struggled since the All-Star break, losing nine of 10. They’ve had a complete power outage and have scored the second-fewest runs in the Majors this month. As for the Diamondbacks, they’re not a high scoring team on the road; they were 22nd in road runs entering Tuesday.

Wade Miley will be on the mound for the Diamondbacks, and he should be able to extend their misery. He has a 3.28 road ERA and opposing hitters are batting just .227 against him. The Reds will counter with Alfredo Simon, who has a 3.09 ERA this month.

These two teams and pitchers squared off on June 1st and reached a 4-3 scoreline. Look for a similar result here fueled by the Reds’ struggles at the plate.  Bet this game today.

Pick: Under

Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox Prediction

On the surface, this might seem like an even matchup as Mark Buehrle and Jon Lester are on the mound. The Jays are the better team, but the Red Sox will have home-field advantage and the better pitcher. Boston should have a sizable edge. Buehrle has not been the same pitcher as of late. The All-Star had a 2.16 ERA in April, 2.48 in May, 2.79 in June, and is at 7.20 in July. He has allowed at least eight hits in each of his four starts this month, which has led to a ridiculous WHIP of 2.10.

As for Lester, he’s been nearly unhittable in recent outings. He gave up just two earned runs in his last five starts. As a matter of fact, he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any of his last eight starts.

The Red Sox are one of the best hitting teams against lefties, scoring a league-high 143 runs. As for the Blue Jays, their .238 batting average against lefties is 28th in the Majors.

Pick: Red Sox

Los Angeles Angels @ Baltimore Orioles Pick

The Angels are worth the price of admission in this one. They’ll send Garrett Richards to the mound, and he has been a fantastic road bet this season. He’s 6-1 in road games with a 1.83 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. That’s a sharp contrast to his 3.41 ERA and 1.17 WHIP at home. He’ll be going up against an Orioles lineup that has struggled to hit this month. Entering Tuesday, they were batting just .236 in July, which is 27th in the Majors.

The O’s will counter with Kevin Gausman on the hill. He also pitches better on the road (2.86 ERA) than at home (4.33). He might have a tough time with the Angels, who lead the Majors in batting average (.277), runs (122) and RBIs (114) this month.

Pick: Angels
