NBA Christmas Day Betting Picks

NBA Christmas Day Betting Picks

The NBA has a tradition of playing games on Christmas Day, and the league always does a great job of highlighting some of the best teams and biggest players. COVID-19 has affected many things in 2020, but the NBA Christmas Day tradition lives on.

There are five games scheduled to take place on Christmas Day, and some juicy matchups are featured. Here is a quick betting preview and pick for each of the five games on the schedule:

Golden State Warriors at Milwaukee Bucks (-9.5)

Christmas Day will kick off with a matchup between the Golden State Warriors against the Milwaukee Bucks. This game will feature Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo, two of the best players in the NBA.

Golden State struggled in a season-opening loss to the Brooklyn Nets, and the Warriors enter this game shorthanded. The Warriors are expected to be better in 2020-21, but this team still has a ways to go.

The Bucks suffered a 122-121 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, but Milwaukee played well in this game. Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton give this team two legitimate scoring threats.

Expect plenty of points in this game, but the Bucks are a better team and will cover the 9.5-point spread.

New Orleans Pelicans at Miami Heat (-5.0)

The 0-1 Miami Heat will host the 1-0 New Orleans Pelicans in the second game on Christmas. Miami suffered a disappointing loss to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night while the New Orleans Pelicans were impressive in beating the Toronto Raptors.

Brandon Ingram had 24 points and 11 rebounds on Wednesday to lead the Pelicans to a win, and New Orleans also has Zion Williamson. The Pelicans should be one of the most improved teams in the league this season.

The Miami Heat struggled to find offense in the season opener, but that won’t be the case all season long. Miami was in the NBA Finals a season ago, and they are one of the deepest teams in the league.

Look for the Heat to get back on track on Friday and cover the small five-point spread with a win.

Brooklyn Nets (-2.0) at Boston Celtics

The third game of the day will feature a matchup between Atlantic Division rivals and two legitimate NBA Finals contenders. Both the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics are 1-0, and each team is loaded with superstars.

Brooklyn finally had Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the floor together, and both players played well in the season opener. The Nets can really score the basketball, but depth could be an issue.

The Boston Celtics are playing without Kemba Walker, but it didn’t slow them down in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Jaylen Brown had 33 points in the season opener, and Jayson Tatum hit the game-winning shot.

This will be a battle, but look for the two biggest stars from Brooklyn to steal the show. The Nets move to 2-0 with an impressive win on the road.

Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers (-6.0)

The Los Angeles Lakers look to rebound from a season-opening loss when they host the up-and-coming Dallas Mavericks. If you are looking to find some early season MVP candidates, then this game has you covered.

Luka Doncic had 33 points and eight rebounds in the season opener, but it wasn’t enough as the Mavericks fell to the Phoenix Suns. The Mavericks can score, but they struggle to get some stops on defense at times.

The Los Angeles Lakers were sluggish in their season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, but that was to be expected. Look for LeBron James and Anthony Davis to put on a show on Christmas Day.

Take the Lakers in this game as they pick up their first win.

LA Clippers at Denver Nuggets (-1.0)

The Denver Nuggets will host the LA Clippers in a rematch of last season’s playoff series. Denver was able to upset the Clippers in that series, and LA will be out for revenge.

The LA Clippers got 33 points from Paul George in the season opener, and they cruised to victory over the Lakers. New head coach Ty Lue will have this team prepared to take on the Nuggets in this game.

Denver got 29 points, 15 rebounds, and 14 assists from Nikola Jokic on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough in a loss to the Phoenix Suns. The Nuggets will need to make shots if they want to win this game.

LA appears to be motivated after last season, and they will beat the Nuggets in the final game on Christmas Day.
