NBA Playoffs First Round Betting Preview

The 2020 NBA Playoffs begin this week, and the anticipation is extremely high. Even though the Playoffs will look a little bit different this year, this is still a chance for the best basketball players in the world to showcase their skills.

All of the games will take place in Orlando, Fla., so home-court advantage will not be in play. That could lead to some upsets, although not many are likely in the first round.

Here is a look at each first-round playoff series, with the series prices listed.

Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference has a clear favorite in the Milwaukee Bucks, but anything can happen in the playoffs. Three teams are huge favorites in the first round, while the 4-5 matchup is expected to be tight.

(1) Milwaukee Bucks -8000 vs. (8) Orlando Magic +1800

The Milwaukee Bucks were the best team in the NBA during the regular season, and they are huge betting favorites to win the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee begins their run by taking on the Orlando Magic.

Orlando was unable to improve its playoff seed during the restart and now must deal with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the explosive Bucks offense in the first round. Milwaukee wins this series in no more than five games.

(2) Toronto Raptors -8000 vs. (7) Brooklyn Nets +1800

The defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors are big favorites in this first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn has had to piece together its roster due to injuries and opt-outs, and they are no match for the Raptors in this series.

Toronto wins this series in a four-game sweep.

(3) Boston Celtics -480 vs. (6) Philadelphia 76ers +360

Under normal circumstances, this series could be the best first-round series in the NBA. Philadelphia will be without point guard Ben Simmons, and that gives the Celtics a huge edge.

Boston does have some question marks, but this team could go on a deep playoff run. Look for the Celtics to dispatch the 76ers in this series.

(4) Indiana Pacers +250 vs. (5) Miami Heat -325

This series should be the most competitive in the East. Both teams have overcome adversity since the restart, but each team has played well.

This series has the potential to go all seven games, but the Heat will end the series before that. Bet the Heat over the Pacers in this one.

Western Conference

The Western Conference is loaded with terrific teams, and all four playoff series should be competitive. The Lakers and Clippers are favorites to win the West, but they have some work to do in the first round.

(1) Los Angeles Lakers -500 vs. (8) Portland Trail Blazers +360

The Portland Trail Blazers played their way into the No. 8 seed, and that earns them a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers. Portland is a big underdog in this series, but it will be a tough challenge for the Lakers.

Betting on the Lakers is the play, but it won’t be a typical 1-8 first-round matchup.

(2) LA Clippers -500 vs. (7) Dallas Mavericks +360

The second-seeded LA Clippers are also in for a tough matchup with the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas is led by Luka Doncic, and this team can really score.

The Clippers should be getting Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell back into their lineup, and their depth will be the difference in this game. Bet the Clippers over the Mavericks in a series that should last at least six games.

(3) Denver Nuggets -265 vs. (6) Utah Jazz +210

Northwest Division rivals meet up in the first round when the Nuggets take on the Jazz. These are two of the best defensive teams in the NBA, and points will be hard to come by in this series.

The Nuggets are the more talented team, which will allow them to earn a series victory over the Jazz.

(4) Houston Rockets -162 vs. (5) Oklahoma City Thunder +132

This is the series that will get plenty of attention, and there are several storylines at play. Chris Paul will be taking on his former Rockets team, and he has been a great leader for the Oklahoma City Thunder this season.

Houston can really score, and former Thunder teammates James Harden and Russell Westbrook lead the way, though Westbrook is expected to miss part of the series. The Rockets sometimes struggle to defend, and that could hurt them in this series.

Look for an upset in this series as the Oklahoma City Thunder are able to knock off the Rockets in a seven-game series.
