College Hoops Weekend Action

The College Basketball season heads into one of the final weekends before conference season starts. The Christmas time is approaching, and that means big conference games are on the way. Before that happens though, there are some great games this weekend on the hardwood. Now that finals are over, it’s time to get to some competitive NCAA Basketball action.

Butler Bulldogs over Purdue Boilermakers – Saturday

The Butler Bulldogs and Purdue Boilermakers in the first of a battle of State of Indiana teams in Indianapolis. The Boilermakers started with 10 wins in 12 games, and are near the top of the Big Ten. Butler is also 8-2 on the season. Look for the Bulldogs, who play with a little more fundamentals to get the Boilermakers. The athletic ability sides with Purdue, but the Bulldogs get the job done on Saturday.

Florida State Seminoles over Oklahoma State Cowboys – Saturday

The Florida State Seminoles are one of the unbeaten teams remaining in College Basketbalj. The Seminoles have been red hot, including that blowout win at Florida. This will be a challenge for the Seminoles, as the Cowboys have been winning games. This is not a true home game for the Seminoles, so look for Oklahoma State to keep it very close. In the end, the Seminoles win this game over the Cowboys by a possession or two.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish over Indiana Hoosiers – Saturday

The second game in Indianapolis is not going to be close. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are much better than the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers have struggled big time this season, and would fall below .500 with a loss. Look for Notre Dame to be able to score, and score often over the Hoosiers. Notre Dame wins this game by double digits over the Hoosiers.

Oklahoma Sooners over Wichita State Shockers – Saturday

Gregg Marshall and his Wichita State Shockers are 3rd in the nation, and have a home game against a Big 12 school. The Oklahoma Sooners are not bad on their own with just a single loss on the season. Last year, Wichita State won this game by 3. Look for Oklahoma to go into Wichita and shock the home team. The Sooners beat Wichita State and enter the rankings.

Arizona State Sun Devils over Vanderbilt Commodores – Sunday

There is not a team in College Basketball that is hotter than the Arizona State Sun Devils. One of the 7 remaining unbeaten teams get a chance to take on a struggling Vanderbilt team. The Commodores are 3-6 heading into this week, with the worst record in the SEC. Look for a little bit of a struggle, as Vanderbilt hangs around, but in the end, the Sun Devils remain unbeaten.

North Carolina Tar Heels over Tennessee Volunteers – Sunday

Two ranked teams get together for this game. The National Champions from a season ago have one loss – to Michigan State this season. The talent and athleticism in this game favors the Tar Heels, but being in Knoxville is a big advantage for the team in Orange. Look for North Carolina to survive, but in a very tight, competitive game on Sunday.
