Week 14 NCAAF Picks: Miss St vs. Ole Miss and Florida vs FSU

Week 14 NCAAF Picks: Miss St vs. Ole Miss and Florida vs FSU

The No. 3 Florida State Seminoles improved to 11-0 with a 20-17 win over Boston College this past Saturday. It was the fifth time they pushed ahead with less than eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Seminoles have played their best football in clutch situations, but they’ve also down-played their level of competition, which has nearly cost them a few games and their spot in the current College Football Playoff race.

Well, Florida State is back in action and looking to extend its undefeated season to 12 straight wins with a match against rival Florida. Here’s a quick look at the best bets for Week 14 of the college football season.

NCAA Football Game of the Week – Week 14

#4 Mississippi State Bulldogs @ #8 Ole Miss Rebels
Saturday, 3:30 PM ET

Two SEC rivals will clash in a crucial game with major national title implications. Ole Miss has struggled down the stretch, losing three of their last four. The Rebels will relish the chance to push their in-state rivals out of the playoff picture.

The Bulldogs bounced back from a close loss to Alabama with a blowout win over Vanderbilt, but they will have to make a statement this week to hold on to the final playoff position. The Rebels’ recent struggles mean that Mississippi State needs to do more than just win this game.

That could be tough as the Bulldogs have been shaky on the road. They lost at Alabama and were pushed to their limits by Kentucky. Although the Rebels are coming in on a low, facing off with their rivals in the Egg Bowl will fire them up.

Pick: Ole Miss +2

NCAA Football Underdog Play of the Week – Week 14

Florida Gators @ Florida State Seminoles
Saturday, 3:30 PM ET

FSU is only 3-8 against the spread this season, but they are listed as big favorites against the Florida Gators. The Gators rallied from an overtime loss to South Carolina with a blowout win over Eastern Kentucky last week.

They relied on their tough defense to secure wins over Georgia and Vanderbilt too, and they could have very well pulled out a win over the Gamecocks with a little more luck (come on football gods!).

Meanwhile, Jameis Winston and the Seminoles have relied on raising their level of play when it counts – even if they haven’t dominated a full four quarters from week to week. Florida State should manage to pull another victory this week, but don’t expect them to cover more than a touchdown. Gators head coach Will Muschamp is resigning after the season, so his players will be play valiantly for him in this epic intrastate showdown.

Pick: Florida +8

Two-Team Teaser of the Week (7 Pts.)

#14 Auburn Tigers @ #4 Alabama Crimson Tide +
Michigan Wolverines @ #6 Ohio State Buckeyes

Auburn reached a low point in a blowout loss to Georgia two weeks ago, but they beat Samford last week. Now is their last chance to play spoiler. However, if they can’t beat Texas A&M and Georgia, they likely won’t be able to beat Alabama.

Meanwhile, Ohio State is going to need a lot of help to get into the playoffs, and all they can do at this point is pad their resume by beating lesser teams. The Buckeyes will do exactly that against Michigan. The Wolverines are waiting for their miserable season to end. The seven-point tease drops Ohio State to -13 and they should be able to cover two touchdowns.

Pick: Tide -2.5 & Ohio State -13.5
