Two NFC South teams will square off at the SuperDome in New Orleans on Thursday night. This is the first game of Week 6 in the National Football League. The Atlanta Falcons come into the game with one of the six perfect records in the league. For New Orleans, they have struggled to start the season, winning just 1 of 5 games.
The Falcons are coming in fresh off that overtime win over Washington. In overtime, Kirk Cousins threw an interception that the Falcons returned for a touchdown. For the Saints, after downing Dallas two weeks ago, they were unable to solve the mystery of the Philadelphia Eagles. New Orleans has had rumors of their head coach Sean Payton leaving or getting traded to another team. That is still to be seen.
Betting the Falcons is the Wise Choice Here
The Atlanta Falcons are 5-0 for a reason. They have one of the best quarterback/receiver combinations in all of the National Football League. Despite Matt Ryan throwing four interceptions, he has been a great connection with Julio Jones. Jones is expected to play, despite a hamstring injury. He has caught 42 passes; with 4 of them for touchdowns on the season. The big news for the Falcons has been their running back DeVonta Freeman. Freeman leads the NFL in rushing touchdowns, with 8 on the season.
The Falcons are also using Tavin Coleman, with 31 attempts, 115 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons should be able to score points at will on a poor Saints team. New Orleans defense has been porous behind the leadership of Rob Ryan. Look for Atlanta to put on a Ryan/Jones show, and also showcase their new running back toy. Don’t be surprised if Freeman gets another couple touchdowns on the ground. Betting the Atlanta Falcons -3.5 is the key bet in this game.
Take the Over, Despite the Large Number
Like I said before, the New Orleans Saints are not a good defensive team. The Saints are allowing 28.6 points per game, which ranks 29th in the league. The Saints offensively are scoring 20.6 points per game, and are third in passing yards, with over 300 per game. New Orleans has lost all three of their road games this season; at Arizona, Carolina and Philadelphia. The Saints have allowed 20 or more points in all five of their games, even to Dallas, in the win.
The total for this game is at 51, and I expect Atlanta to throw up at least 30 in this one. If the Saints can get to three touchdowns, it should be an easy task to go over in this one. I am hoping for new huge turnovers, or if there is, turnovers that lead directly to touchdowns. No red zone turnovers is the key here. I am going to bet the OVER 51 for this game.
Why not? Win More by Betting Halftime Line
If you are still looking for some action in this game, while I think it will be high scoring, I also think the Falcons have command of this game and keep it. If you are into this type of betting, the halftime line may be key for you. The halftime line right now features the Falcons at -2. Atlanta, if they can take care of the football will score on the Saints, and you got to think the Falcons, who want to move to 6-0 will take pride on the defensive side.
This has me thinking a 1st half bet of the New Orleans Saints -2 is a good bet to take. Again, if you want more action, this is a good one. If you are content with the Saints winning the game, leave this one alone!
