It’s conference championship weekend in the National Football League, which means there are just three games left in the season. The two games this weekend should both be terrific matchups, although the home teams are favored by more than a touchdown in each game.
Let’s take a closer look at each matchup before delivering our survivor pick for each conference championship game.
Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs
This matchup was certainly not expected in the AFC, but it is what we have with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. These two teams actually met up during the regular season, and the Titans stunned the Chiefs with a three-point victory.
Kansas City and Tennessee are extremely different, and play in very different ways, although each team does have a terrific defense.
The Chiefs are led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who had another historic performance in the divisional round. Mahomes threw five touchdown passes in that game after throwing for close to 4,000 yards during the regular season.
The Chiefs have struggled to run the ball this season, but they have plenty of weapons in the passing game.
Kansas City has found a defense this season, but it is going to be tested in a big way in this game. The Titans have one of the best running attacks in the league, led by rushing champ Derrick Henry.
Henry has run for more than 180 yards in each of the last three games, and the Titans are going to give him the ball a ton in this game.
The Titans’ defense will likely be the key in this game, and it’s just hard to see them getting enough stops. Tennessee has been a solid defensive team this season, but it’s just too hard to stop Mahomes.
The Titans are going to keep it close, but Kansas City gets a home victory.

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers
The top two seeds remain in the National Football Conference, and that should set up for a terrific game on Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers were the top seed in the NFC this season, and they have been terrific on both sides of the ball.
Green Bay finished the regular season with a 13-3 record to win the NFC North after missing the playoffs a season ago. Two of the most storied franchises will square off with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
Green Bay is led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who remains one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Rodgers is certainly capable of winning this game on his own, but he has had plenty of help this season.
Running back Aaron Jones averaged a touchdown per game this season and was sharp in the win last week over the Seattle Seahawks.
San Francisco loves to run the football, and it is going to run the ball a ton in this game. The Niners have dealt with several injuries at that position, but they have still managed to find enough production.
The Niners also have a terrific defense that racked up close to 50 sacks during the regular season. San Francisco will need to find a way to get some pressure on Rodgers if it wants to win this game.
This game is going to be close throughout and will likely be decided late. Having home-field advantage is going to matter in this game, and it will propel the 49ers to the win and to the Super Bowl.
