On Saturday January 25th, 2011 – the Ultimate Fighting Championship will bring you an excellent set of fights. This event is titled – Fight for the Troops 2, which basically takes the place of UFC 23. This event takes place near Fort Hood, Texas, and will be the third event at a military base.
The fight features five bouts on the main card and six more on the preliminary card. The main event features Evan Durham against Melvin Guillard in the Lightweight Bout. The Heavyweight bout on the main card sees Matt Mitirone take on Tim Hague. Hague is one of two fighters from Canada on the main card. The other fighter from North of the border is Matt Hominick. He will take on George Roop in the Featherweight bout. If Hominick beats Roop, he will be considered the top contender for the Featherweight Championship and then will take on Jose Aldo. The final two fights on the main card include Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran and also Cole Miller taking on Matt Wiman.
Let’s discuss our picks for this event. There are some excellent fights, and even better odds:
Evan Durham -260 vs. Melvin Guillard +200: Durham is coming off his first career professional loss. Guillard has a little bit younger legs on him, but not nearly as strong or talented. For our money, we really like Evan Durham to win this fight, and doing it pretty easily.
Matt Mitirone -260 vs. Tim Hague +200: Mitirone is relatively new to the world of UFC fighting. He has just three bouts under his belt. Hague has a little momentum coming in winning two straight bouts. We like the underdog in this one. Our pick is Tim Hague +200 in this fight.
George Roop +200 vs. Matt Hominick -260: Both fighters are making their UFC debut, since coming over from the World Extreme Cage fighting. Roop seems to be the fit for this fight, but Hominick’s strength will give him big advantage. We are taking Matt Hominick -260 in this fight.
Joey Beltran +180 vs. Pat Barry -230: Beltran is coming off a loss to Mitirone. It was a valiant effort, coming with such short notice. With a little more preparation, he now feels he is more prepared for Barry. Barry is going to turn 32 years old, but is making his UFC debut. Our prediction is that the underdog, Joey Beltran will outlast Barry in this fight.
Cole Miller -180 vs. Matt Wiman +150: Miller is known as “skinny”, but there is nothing weak about his fighting. Known for being one of the crazier fighters around, Miller holds his own against all opponents. Wiman is 12-5 in his UFC career, and has won two straight fights. Wiman, with his momentum, and a little more fighting experience will take this one, but barely. We are betting on the underdog, Matt Wiman +150 to win this fight.
Good luck with all your UFC Bets and Picks on Fight for the Troops 2. This is one of many excellent events arranged for the 2011 calendar year!
